Installing Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (7.04) on Dell Latitude D610

  • install ubuntu 7.04 from the live CD
  • install all updates

Installing Ubuntu Edgy Eft (6.10) on Dell Latitude D610

Installing Ubuntu Dapper Drake (6.06 LTS) on Dell Latitude D610

  • install ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) from the installer/live CD
  • install Network Manager [1]
    • Run: sudo apt-get install network-manager-gnome
    • Reboot [2]
  • install EasyUbuntu (Yay, France!)

[1] NB: On flaky WPA networks, Network Manager may freak out occasionally. If you lose the blue vertical bar icon, right click the Network Manager icon and disable the network. Re-enable the network and all is well again.

[2] If you have issues after the reboot, see the detailed how-to: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Dapper#How_to_Configure_Ubuntu.2FKubuntu_with_WPA_using_Network-Manager

I should really make a distributable installer CD for this. I think it would take about an hour.
